Group’s Le Royal Hotel in Lebanon receives Horeca
2004 Awards

Beirut
– 2004
Le
Royal Hotel in Beirut has proven that it is the
city’s principal location for those desiring the
most exquisite of cuisines having won 15 Medals
and 2 Merit Certificates at the 2004 HORECA catering
industry show.
The
competition among all five-star hotels in Lebanon
earned Le Royal 3 Gold Medals, 9 Silver Medals,
3 Bronze Medals and 2 Merit Certificates. Among
the honoured were Chef Song Bo, who received two
gold medals for Fruit and Vegetable Display and
Live Ice Carving; Chef Roger Saker, Chef Jamil
Karam and Chef Joseph Torbey, who received silver
medals for Set Dinner Menu, Oriental Banquet Main
Courses and Vegetarian Menu respectively. Bronze
medals were awarded to Joseph Farah for Plate
Appetiser, Fady Keedy for Six Course Set Dinner
Menu and Amine Nasrani for Live Sandwich.
President
of Lebanon Unveils A1 Grand Prix Team

– December 2004
On
1 December 2004, Team Lebanon, a GMH-sponsored
Grand Prix team, entered the world of international
motor sport with the official announcement of
the creation of the Lebanese A1 Grand Prix team.
The racing car, in full red, white and green Lebanese
livery, was unveiled by the President of Lebanon,
His Excellency General Emile Lahoud, at a stunning
VIP Gala Evening at Le Royal Hotel in Beirut,
hosted by GMH’s Chairman, Mr Nadhmi Auchi.
Pope
John Paul II awards Papal Knighthood on GMH Chairman

Vatican
City – August 2004
His
Holiness Pope John Paul II has bestowed on the
Chairman of General Mediterranean Holding, Mr
Nadhmi Auchi, the rare honour and dignity of Knight
of the Pontifical Order of Pope Saint Sylvester
in recognition of Mr Auchi’s contribution to inter-religious
dialogue and hospitaller activities around the
world. Mr Auchi is one of the
few Muslims to be honoured by the Holy See in
such a way.
President of Lebanon bestows the Lebanese Order of Merit
on Chairman

Beirut – June 2004
In
June 2004, the Chairman of General Mediterranean
Holding, Mr Nadhmi Auchi, received the Lebanese
Order of Merit (First Class) from His Excellency
General Emile Lahoud, President of the Republic
of Lebanon, in recognition of his significant
role in promoting and investing in the country.
